Don’t be tempted by quick, inauthentic ways to gain traction, like buying followers or engaging in “follow for follow” trains. While these might seem like easy ways to boost your numbers, they will most likely harm you in the long run.
Social media followers are only valuable to your brand if they truly want to engage with you and your product. If they are beyond your target consumers, their presence does nothing to help you achieve sales or gain loyalty.
How to gain more Twitter followers
The most useful way to use your social media platforms and grow your Twitter readership is to seek legitimate leads who align with your brand’s values and services.
Here are six ways to gain more X followers:
1. Create shareable content
Shareable content goes beyond the latest viral video or news story with an eye-catching headline — it’s knowing who your audience is and what they will consider valuable. Value means something different to everyone.
For some brands, value comes from detailed infographics breaking down complex medical studies. For others, it might be interactive content meant to promote engagement and get useful community feedback. For many, it’s providing entertainment or inspiration via shared stories, pictures, or video clips.
The more relevant your content is, the more likely your audience is to find and engage with it — and with you.
Your tweets should also be original and accurate — sharing misinformation or outdated content is an easy way to gain a negative reputation and for followers to overlook your tweets.
Consider each tweet’s makeup, including:

- Tagged accounts
- Hashtags
- Media
Once your shareable content has done its job and helped you connect with followers and potential clients, continue engaging with them and fostering that relationship.
2. Have a hashtag strategy

3. Pay attention to your metrics
Unless your X profile is brand new, you should have access to your unique posting metrics, which lets you see when your posts are receiving the most traction and engagement. Knowing your metrics is the most efficient way to craft your Twitter strategy.
For example, business-to-business (B2B) companies get higher engagement on weekdays, while B2C brands see better results on weekends. The times with the highest click-through rates (CTRs) for all Twitter content are typically noon and 6 p.m.

4. Be active on the app
Keep your account relevant by staying active on your Twitter feed. Engage with others in your industry, including experts and important figureheads.
Reply to followers who share your content and have conversations with them. Answer relevant direct messages. If you want to gain Twitter followers who care about your brand, keep your line of contact open to answer questions or give product and service insights.
