At WebFX, one of our core values is to leave the world a better place.

We’ve switched to solar power at our headquarters, saved over 24,000 plastic water bottles, saved energy through green commuting and set a goal to preserve over 1,100 acres of rainforest over the next 10 years. Through these efforts, WebFX has eliminated our collective carbon footprint.

OUR PROJECT

We’re working to end deforestation in the Guatemalan Conservation Coast, preserving at least 100 acres of biodiverse forest each year beginning in 2021, which will offset our footprint by 120%. So far, we’ve saved 20,370 trees in the rainforest.

Why is this important? The Guatemalan Caribbean coastline is home to not only humans, but beautiful and diverse animal species as well. Migratory birds rely on the forests as their migratory location, while jaguars and manatees call these extraordinary forests home.

How does the program work?

WebFX is partnering with grassroots organizations to eliminate deforestation and preserve 100 acres of forest on Guatemala’s northeastern coast along the Caribbean. Preserving this key forest will prevent additional CO2 emissions and offset CO2 created by WebFX by 120%.

Not to mention, we’re taking steps around the office to be more environmentally conscious – like providing reusable silverware to the team, installing solar panels, and providing recycling bins in the office. We also planted 2,552 trees in Central PA and Florida.

How will this help the people of Guatemala?

Locally, WebFX’s impact will be much deeper than simply preserving trees. To end deforestation long term, local groups are working to build up additional tree-friendly economic engines, improve education, and add additional mobile health clinics to this area of Guatemala that will create healthcare access for 1,000 people.

The Guatemala Conservation Coast project is Verified Carbon Standard (VCS). It has also achieved CCB Gold status.
