Effective web design will help more beer lovers find your brand while ensuring your existing fans can get ahold of their favorite drinks. At WebFX, we want to help you design an amazing website that serves as an asset to your brewery.

Check out our tips below to make web design an effective part of your marketing strategy — or give us a call at 888-601-5359 to get started.

1. Lean into your brand identity

You design your packaging and physical locations to express who you are as a company. Your brewery website should highlight your brand identity, too. Every element of your site — from the colors to the fonts, images, and text — should represent the image you want customers to associate with your brand.

Use your logos, color scheme, and slogans throughout your site to create a consistent experience for users. The more you align your website with your brand, the more you’ll solidify a place in customers’ minds.

2. Design for the user

Your website’s success boils down to how easy it is to use. When viewers visit your website, they want to find information quickly. Your site should seamlessly usher users to the pages they want to find, whether it’s your beer catalog, list of retailers, or contact page.

You can improve user experience (UX) through web design by building a clean site. Be selective about how much information you put on a page and where the information goes. Too many details can overwhelm a user, causing them to click away.

You should also make sure your website loads quickly. Boosting your page speed will ensure your site satisfies users by helping them find information fast.

A poor UX makes web users 88% less likely to return to a site, so facilitate a positive user experience to keep customers coming back.

3. Prioritize navigation

Your site’s navigation setup will contribute to UX and encourage Google to show your page to more people searching for their next brew.

Your site should have a navigation bar along the top or side of the page. The navigation bar can include links to your products, locations, a retail finder, an events page, and any other information you think customers might want to find.

In addition to your navigation bar, you can include internal links to show users around your website. Internal links take readers to other useful pages on your site.

4. Secure your site with HTTPS

Online security is critical, especially if your brewery accepts digital orders and payments. You can implement HTTPS as your network protocol standard to encrypt sensitive personal data. The extra effort you take to host a secure online experience will build confidence and trust in your site.

5. Use multimedia elements

Multimedia elements, like images and videos, catch and keep users’ attention. As a brewery, you have plenty of opportunities to use visuals to your advantage.

Online images and videos can entice users and give them a behind-the-scenes look at your brewery. Fill your site with pictures and videos that show how delicious your drinks are and how much care you put into brewing them.

On a design level, you can use multimedia elements to break up large chunks of text or otherwise fill space on the page.

6. Use interactive elements

It only takes a few seconds for a reader to decide if your site is worth their time. Like photos and videos, interactive page elements grab attention. They also reward users for their interactions and help them find the information they need quickly.

An interactive element can be a simple button that says “find a retailer,” a dropdown menu in your navigation bar, or a detailed carousel showing your entire product line.

7. Optimize for mobile

Mobile searches account for roughly half of the world’s web traffic, so keep that in mind while designing your site. If the design is right, your mobile site could make a visitor 67% more likely to check out your brewery when they’re looking for a spot to grab a drink in the area.

8. Highlight your reviews

While we’re discussing elements that encourage newcomers to try your brewery, let’s talk about reviews.

Building a portfolio of online reviews will help you gain customers. A solid 80% of web users say online reviews have swayed their minds one way or the other about a purchase.

Since online reviews are so influential, why not promote them on your site? One option is to include space for a rotating list of your best reviews on your homepage. You can also keep a dedicated reviews page where web users can see the full list.

9. Write interesting content

The content you include on your site is a significant part of web design — it’s what draws users to your page in the first place.

Fill your website with content that answers the questions your customers are asking. This strategy, called content marketing, can address users at numerous stages of the buying funnel.

You could share blog posts about the brewing process that target anyone interested in beer. At the same time, you can write a newsletter that keeps your company in existing customers’ minds.

10. Optimize your site for Google

If you have a well-designed website with engaging content, you’re on the right track — now you need to make sure users can find it. SEO, or search engine optimization, attempts to boost your website to the top of Google’s results page when users search for breweries and other topics you cover on your site.

Effective web design is just one of several SEO tactics you can apply to your brewery’s website. Other strategies to consider include targeting keywords, earning backlinks, and constructing URLs that tell Google your site is one users should see.
